Maybank net profit up 105% in 3Q

PETALING JAYA: Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) reported a net profit of RM1.03bil for its third quarter ended March 31,compared to RM503.3mil recorded in the same period a year earlier after all of its business segments recorded growth.
Revenue for the period stood at RM4.59bil against RM4.27bil a year ago.
Maybank in a statement said its core commercial banking operations were expected to continue the good performance moving forward.
The investment banking and insurance divisions are expected to advance further on the back of better capital market activity and improved internal capability and capacity, it said.
Share is closed at MYR7.76.

Maxis posts RM503m Q4 profit
Maxis Bhd registered a net profit of RM503mil on revenue of RM2.2bil for the fourth quarter ended Dec 31, supported by an increase in total mobile subscriptions, postpaid average revenue per user (Arpu) and non-voice revenue.
Net Profit Margin: 22.8%
Maxis declared an interim dividend of six sen and proposed a final dividend of three sen. The payout will amount to RM675mil in addition to the RM450mil paid in the third quarter, bringing total dividends for the financial year ended Dec 31 (FY09) to RM1.125bil.
